DJ, Producer, Parisian re-mixer, Resident DJ at the Queen club (Paris), FG Dj radio and ex-resident of LEnfer, he played his first turntables when he was 13, influenced by the great DJs of the world. With his 15 years of experience mixing, he found his technique and style to reach top international DJ-level. STYLE: 15 years of experience mixing, beginning with 7 years of Hip-Hop. With the influence of the « House music & Rave party » phenomenon and the new talent revealed by the electronic wave which swept through Paris, he gradually developed a club House & techno sound. This opened up a new horizon and he was soon in his element.He played in a number of raves parties, making a name for himself and gaining public recognition. From 1997, at the end of his sound ingeneer studies, onwards he worked in clubs, developing his style more progressively, House music being his choice of records and life. This was a revelation to him. This movement coming onto the scene as a melting pot of all cultures and musics. He handles this style magnificently, combining his teenage groove with funk, disco, jazz and even techno sound. At the time he mixed five days a week, on the turntables of the capitals biggest clubs. Thanks to the numerous club residences he can carry out his long eclectic sets. He has been side-by-side with many well-known Djs such as DJ Sneak, Johnny Corporate, Kerri Chandler, Dj Gregory, Lego, Little Louie Vega, Dj Deep, Frankie Feliciano, Jazzanova, Claude Young, Roger Sanchez, Martin Solveig, Jamie Lewis In 1999, he began to travel abroad as a guest in foreign clubs. His present, very club-style «Pumping Soulful House », influenced by the French and New-york scene, can be qualified as unique. In his element from Deep House to Techno, he handles his records like a raw product. His aim, whilst concentrating on the frequencies and the organic side of his mix, is above all to be at one with his public and to give them a Show.
Mike Steva - back in Melbourne (completed a tour of Shanghai) equipped with a new bag of goodies and ready to rock Melbourne dancefloors & the BackToHouse-Stream... He currently spins and has spun at places such as RAW Fridays, Metro, F4, Seven, Room 680, Motel, Boutique, Qbar, Alumbra to name a few... ...With a sound and record collection that span the globe and are way too mature for someone his age (21), Mike has earnt the respect of peers and patrons by playing a sound that is true to himself and by playing a sound that he loves, he describes the sound that he plays as ‘real house music’.Listening to anything from Disco, funk, hip hop and rnb to reggae and house growing up, Mike has covered a lot of genres as a kid and young teen. Still in his teens Mike’s musical knowledge, passion and skill behind the decks well exceed his age. Citing people such as Masters at Work, DJ Spen, Dennis Ferrer, Quentin Harris & Bob Sinclar in his early days as key influences, a set from Mike will encompass anything from soulful vocals to afro-Latin tribal beats, to some big room vocal stuff as well as some deeper underground sounds. Mike’s once passion for music and DJ’ing, has now turned into an obsession. At the age of 14 when friends his age were saving to buy video games, Mike saved his money and put it towards records, just so he could DJ on some old school turntables, which his parents purchased with their home sound system. Probably the youngest Australian DJ to tour internationally, at age 19 Mike embarked on his first International tour, and graced the people of Shanghai, China with his presence.He drove crowds into a frenzy by playing his unique blend of vocally driven house with deep, soulful and tribal elements. Currently Mike is highly sort after DJ, holding residencies at some of Melbourne’s premier nightclubs which include Metro, Boutique, RAW Fridays, Room 680, Seven, Motel, F4 and Alumbra. Mike has also featured on the same bill as DJ’s such as Jay J, James Curd (Greenskeepers), Simon Dunmore (Defected), Raoul (Swirl People), Freemasons, Supafly and Benny Bennasi to name a few.You would think that the sound being pushed by Mike does not necessarily get the masses up onto the floor in an instance, but somehow he manages to get even the musically challenged up of their feet. It’s no wonder Mike has played gigs for the likes of Simens Mobile, L’Oreal, The Victorian Racing Club and Nova FM at the Caufield cup. Mike’s hard work ethic behind the decks and love for music is grand. Constantly updating his music collection and always striving to be up to date with the latest and freshest sounds of house music is what sets Mike Steva aside from the rest.
